How Does it Work?
Wind spins a turbine to generate electricity.

Wind Turbine Types - Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine and Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines produce the most energy. The propeller- like blades take full advantage of the wind to make electricity.

Vertical Axis Wind Turbines are ideal for areas where installing a wind tower is not feasible.  Additionally, the blades of the turbine are always facing the wind allowing it to function in turbulent wind areas.

About Wind Power
  • Wind turbines or wind generators work best in high wind areas.  For good energy production the wind turbine should be on a tower above surrounding trees and buildings by 30ft.  The taller the tower, the more wind power.
  • The larger the turbine blade diameter, the greater the ratio of energy produced.
  • Horizontal Axis Turbines are the best for energy production.
  • Vertical Axis Turbines are less efficient in energy production but make up for it in durability and ability to work in turbulent areas.
  • Servicing a wind turbine is easy with a tilt-up tower.  See our image gallery!

Generating wind energy is like flying a kite.
